It had been a dark and gloomy night so far and it was only getting worse. She stared out her dining room window wondering if the snow would ever stop, it looked like a blizzard. She had woken with shock that morning due to another night terror that had gripped her in her sleep. She'd suffered from these for years, I suppose that is what comes with what she had to endure that one far off night. She'd gotten up, tried to ready herself and was going to leave. Upon opening her front door, she found her car covered nearly 3 foot deep in snow and a thick layer of ice. That day had showed no signs of getting any better the longer it wore on.
The events of the day were nothing special, merely grocery shopping and other menial errands that had to be run. Although for some unknown reason, it seemed the vehicles or maybe the people in them had it out for her that day. It was barely noon and she had so far only barely managed to escape from 3 accidents by mere seconds. She'd stopped at a four way stop and had been prepared to go, when a driver in a large snowplow lost control and skidded into the opposite lane of traffic. Amazingly nobody was killed and they all survived with minor injuries, the accidents just kept coming that day. She'd just left the grocery store and had been headed to her car, bags in hand, she put the bags in her trunk and went to buy a newspaper. She had taken no more than 10 steps from her car when she heard the screeching of tires and groaning of metal, she turned to see that only two cars down from her own, there had been a three car pile-up. Needless to say she forgot about the newspaper.
She thought things would get better if she just headed home now, apparently whatever force that was at work had other ideas. She had gotten most of the way home without much more problems and was beginning to think it was just her imagination. She was turning into her driveway when a large truck nearly ran right into the side of her car, the truck had only barely managed to squeal away after a close brush with her back bumper. She'd had enough of cars that day, she pulled as far into her driveway as she could, unloaded her trunk and fled inside. She'd spent the next several hours watching the outside through her dining room window, she'd been standing here for hours. A fear creeping through her that even her house was not safe from those cars, that one might come barreling through the glass any minute.
It was close to midnight when she convinced herself to sleep, dragging her wearing self up the stairs, she wasn't prepared for what awaited her when she got there. This was a sight few women, humans even rarer, were ever allowed to see, that was if they survived long enough to tell about it.
Read and review for me. I'm working on a story and so far I hope this turns out well. And yes, before you try to tell me, I know that she has no name...yet. I'm working on it, if you have some good suggestions let me know.
